
GlobalTel Participates in Infocom-2002
CJSC GlobalTel, an exclusive Service Provider of the Globalstar global mobile
satellite communication system in Russia, took part in the 2nd International
Exhibition-Forum "Infocommunications in Russia - 21st Century" ("Infocom-2002").
At this Exhibition held in Moscow the latest achievements in telecommunications
and up-to-date services for various users were demonstrated, among its participants
were the largest foreign and Russian telecommunication companies, regional operators
and domestic equipment manufacturers.
Though "Infocom-2002" is a new exhibition held only for the second time, its
significance can be compared to such image-making shows as SviazExpoCom and
Oil and Gas.
At "Infocom-2002" our company displayed an original and interesting stand,
which attracted attention of numerous visitors. There were no idly curious
people at the exhibition and the visitors showed genuine interest in the equipment
and services. The Company experts gave detailed information on the equipment and
new products and services. The greatest interest was caused by the GSP1620x2
Globalstar satellite two-channel modems, which allow to transmit data at high
speed. The issues of using modems in bank applications were discussed. New
accessories subscriber line adaptor and DT550 data adaptor, which recently
came to the market, were also demonstrated at the stand. These small in dimensions
devices allowed substantially expand Telit UTs applications. The subscriber line
adaptor is designed for connecting standard two-wire telephone sets (radiophones,
answering machines, office PBX) to Telit SAT550 car kit and to the SAT550/X/XF
marine kit. The DT550 data adapter now enables SAT550 owners to use 9.6 kbps
asynchronous data service.
First Deputy Minister of the RF Ministry of Telecommunications and Informatisation
Mr. A. Korotkov, representatives of RSCC ("Kosmicheskaya Sviaz") and of the Communications
department of the Ministry of Justice were very interested in CJSC GlobalTel. The Ministry
of Justice expressed a desire to purchase Globalstar satellite UTs for providing
communications to their teams working in Chechnya.
Many seminars, conferences and round-table discussions were held within the framework
of the Exhibition. First Deputy General Director of CJSC GlobalTel Mr. Ya. Baranov
delivered a presentation on the use the Globalstar satellite communication service in
the monitoring systems at the "Communications in Business. New Information Technologies"
seminar. At his presentation Mr. Baranov provided concrete examples of using Globalstar
UTs in process control and monitoring systems.
CJSC GlobalTel is an exclusive Service Provider of the Globalstar global mobile
satellite communication system in Russia. The founders of the company are OJSC
Rostelecom and Globalstar L.P. In May 1997the Agreement was signed between Globalstar
L.P. and CJSC GlobalTel which granted exclusive rights to CJSC GlobalTel for providing
Globalstar services in Russia. Commercial operation of the Globalstar system throughout
Russia was started in November, 2000.
