CJSC GlobalTel has entered into roaming agreements with all leading Russian GSM
cellular operators.
Globalstar subscriber selects the satellite terminal setup mode:
-
"Globalstar" - the terminal operates only in the Globalstar system;
-
"Globalstar preferred" - the terminal is automatically registered
in the Globalstar satellite system. In the event satellite
signals are not received the terminal is automatically switched
over to the GSM-900 mode;

"GSM" - the terminal operates only in GSM-900 network;
-
"GSM preferred" - the terminal is automatically
registered in the GSM-900 network. In the event the cellular
network is not found the terminal is automatically switched
over to the Globalstar satellite mode.
The possibility to work in a cellular network is especially attractive
to Globalstar subscribers when phone calls are made indoors
without direct visibility of satellite. Besides in GSM mode
the phone can receive incoming calls irrespective of whether
the satellite antenna is folded or unfolded.
Thanks to the roaming service cellular-homed subscribers receive
wide possibilities of getting communications in regions not
covered by cellular and other traditional networks. They remain
registered in their cellular network and become roamers in
the Globalstar satellite communications system simultaneously.
To use the roaming service cellular subscribers have to install
their SIM-card in the Globalstar UT.
